Common throughout Scotland in woods & rocky places, Foxglove has traditionally been associated with fairies and is a favourite with bumblebees. It is an impressive biennial with pink, sometimes white, flowers with rusty ‘freckles’. Grows up to 1.5m tall. Many wild plants are toxic and in particular all parts of Foxglove are poisonous if eaten.

Sowing:  Can be sown at any time of year, but best in early autumn or in spring. Sow in trays or pots of moist compost and transplant, when still small, to an open or partly-shaded, well drained site or sow directly on the surface of a fine-raked seed bed firming down well. Keep young plants watered & weeded.
