Christmas greetings from Scotia Seeds
A very Happy Christmas from Scotia Seeds and many thanks to everyone who has made space for nature with our wildflower seed this year!

A very Happy Christmas from Scotia Seeds and many thanks to everyone who has made space for nature with our wildflower seed this year!

To celebrate the arrival of winter, we have a special offer on three wildflower species that need the cold to break their seed dormancy…

Scotia Seeds are pleased to be the very first sponsor of the Montrose Land & Sea Film Festival.

On Saturday 17th June we will be looking at the moths who have visited the light traps at Mavisbank the night before.

It’s that time of year again…on Monday (13th) when we were down at Willow Pond (one of the ponds we made at Mavisbank), we saw a frog couple and the next day there was lots of frogspawn.

After cleaning, the next part of our wildflower seed’s journey is seed testing. In the laboratory at Mavisbank our colleague Natasha tests seed of our 200 hundred odd species…

As well as its common English name ‘Agrimony’, the lovely wildflower Agrimonia eupatoria has lots of other names including Gaelic ones like ‘Geur-bhileach’ ‘Mirean’, & ‘Muir-dhroigh’ and more.

At this time of year our colleagues Jill and Matteo are finishing the vital job of cleaning seed from the 2022 wildflower and wild grass seed harvest at Mavisbank, home of Scotia Seeds.

On Saturday 20th August we are hosting another Buglife Scotland Strathmore People & Pollinators event, this time a yoga session with local teacher, Cheryl Lang.

Join Buglife Scotland and Scotia Seeds for an Introduction to Pollinators.

We are very happy to announce that Scotia Seeds has won the Business Award in the RSPB Nature of Scotland Awards.

We will be closing on Tuesday (11th May) and opening again on Wednesday at 9am…
